WEMBY TURNOVER LEADS TO KNICKS WIN 😱

If You Want to Talk Stanford, Let's Talk Stanford

Chad MintonNov 24, 2009

Charlie Weis once again went into the lion's den during his latest press conference. He's got to be getting sick of this by now and I look forward to seeing each and every one.

This latest press conference featured not only the questions of Weis's job security, but also questions about his quarterback getting sucker punched in the face by what I'm assuming was a very angry fan.

Like many coaches tend to do when negative questions come up, Charlie stuck to avoiding the question and only wanting to talk about the upcoming game. In this case the surging Stanford Cardinal.

You may not want to talk about those issues but I'm expecting that after this weekend you won't want to talk about Stanford either.

The bottom line is this is not a good match-up for the slumping Fighting Irish. Granted Stanford is coming off a tough loss to California, but before that they had wins against three top 25 teams.

Not only has Notre Dame failed to beat a top 25 team this year, but they also haven't looked too impressive against the same teams that Stanford took care of in convincing fashion.

There's an even bigger eye-opener that looks horrible if you're Notre Dame coming into this game and that's Heisman hopeful Toby Gerhart and his 1,500 rushing yards.

In the last three losses Notre Dame has given up an average of 257 rushing yards a game and that's without facing a Heisman candidate. Expect Gerhart and the rest of the Cardinal offense to rip the Notre Dame defense into shreds.

Now I don't want to come down completely on Notre Dame here because they do have a ton of talent, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

However that potent offense has been rock solid almost the entire year and six wins is all it's resulted in. That's even with three very close wins against sub-par teams. I just don't see them pulling out a win against a team as good as Stanford.

Stay tuned for Weis's press conference next week when the number one line will be, "I don't wanna talk about Stanford, I just wanna talk about the Little Caesers Pizza Bowl!"
