Where Is Big Play Jay?

Nathaniel DarrNov 24, 2009

All Bear's fan had to be excited with the signing of Jay Cutler.

For the first time in so many years they had their franchise quarterback. Jay would bring glory back to this storied franchise and give them the offensive firepower they had lacked in years past. Coupled with their stout defense, who though old and having had something of an off year in 2008 would surely come out and at least have one last good run.

And now...

Jay Cutler, the studly QB who has so much potential? He's not cutting it...

Would the Bears be better with Kyle Orton as their QB? I doubt it. Also all of the blame cannot be placed on Cutler's shoulders. The offensive line has been suspect the whole year, and it has even shown up in the running game, where Matt Forte is having an average year.

This Bear's offense is built for one thing though and this is something Cutler has so painfully failed to do...big plays. With Devin Hester and Johnny Knox(and how can you not get someone who's name is Johnny Knox the ball?), Cutler needs to be able to throw the deep ball. This has been the biggest thing he has struggled with this season. I don't know how he is going to figure it out but whatever he does he better do it soon because the Bears could use some big plays out of their flashy receivers in the upcoming game against the Vikings.

After all, there is nothing better to fix some troubles at the quarterback position like a few Sportscenter highlights from Devin and Knox(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqt5h6zuSqU). And the Bears are a team that can and should be delivering these week in and week out.
