49ers vs. Titans Picks, Lineup Tips for Daily Fantasy FanDuel, DraftKings

Week 15 of the NFL season may have just ended, but it's already time to move on to Week 16, with a great Thursday night matchup featuring a pair of playoff contenders.

The Tennessee Titans will look to move closer to the AFC South title when they host the San Francisco 49ers, who have won five of their past six games and are in an NFC wild-card spot. If Tennessee wins, it can clinch the division title if the Indianapolis Colts also lose to the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night.

Although both teams will be without their starting running backs (Tennessee's Derrick Henry and San Francisco's Elijah Mitchell), there are some talented players on both rosters. So, who should be in your DraftKings or FanDuel lineups if you're thinking about diving into daily fantasy on Thursday night?

Here's some DFS advice for the 49ers-Titans matchup to help you set your lineup.  

Samuel Should Be Your DFS Captain/MVP

Deebo Samuel is one of the highest-priced players in this matchup ($11,600 on DraftKings; $14,500 on FanDuel), but there's a good reason for that: He's going to be the best player on the field Thursday night. And because of that, he's going to be more than worth that high price tag again this week.

With Mitchell out with a knee injury, the 49ers have been utilizing Samuel more out of the backfield, rather than just having him line up at receiver. He's had at least five carries in each of San Francisco's past five games, and he's scored six rushing touchdowns during that stretch, getting into the end zone at least once in each contest.

Last week, Samuel still had four receptions for 60 yards in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, even though he also had six carries for 29 yards. And he should excel Thursday night when he's in his traditional role, as the Titans are allowing the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers per game in the league, per NFL.com.

So when you're constructing your DFS lineup for Thursday, start with Samuel and then sit back and enjoy watching one of the NFL's top playmakers rack up points for your lineup.

Garoppolo Should Be a Safe QB Play

Although Jimmy Garoppolo hasn't been a flashy fantasy player this season, he's been a consistent performer. He's passed for at least 230 yards in each of the 49ers' past four games, and he's had two touchdown passes in five of their past seven contests.

Garoppolo may not put up a huge point total against the Titans, but it's an excellent matchup for a player with a high floor. That makes him a better fit for your DFS lineup than Tennessee quarterback Ryan Tannehill, as Garoppolo should provide valuable points at a reasonable price ($10,400 on DraftKings; $14,000 on FanDuel).

Garoppolo could have put up better numbers last week if San Francisco hadn't been playing with a sizable lead for much of the second half. It should help that Tennessee is likely going to play a competitive game, which could force Garoppolo to keep passing late.

A Garoppolo/Samuel stack should bode well in DFS, as they should power the 49ers' offense in this great matchup.

Westbrook-Ikhine Could Be a Great Value Play at WR

Julio Jones will be on the field for the Titans on Thursday, even after he left Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hamstring injury. It's also possible that Tennessee will have fellow top wide receiver A.J. Brown, who is nearing a return from a chest injury that has caused him to miss the past three games.

Still, it could be worth using a DFS roster spot on Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, who has been playing well while Jones and Brown have been hurt and could remain a factor on the Titans offense. He put up 107 yards in Week 11, scored a touchdown in Week 12 and has been frequently targeted in recent weeks.

Westbrook-Ikhine may be a boom-or-bust receiver on Thursday night, but at his low DFS price ($5,400 on DraftKings; $7,500 on FanDuel), it's worth taking a chance on him. That's especially the case if you're spending up at other spots to include players such as Samuel and Garoppolo.
