Connecticut Is Unable to Give the Game to Notre Dame
When the schedule came out for Notre Dame, the Connecticut game looked to be one that would be quite winnable. Unfortunately, this is the same program that has struggled with Navy and Syracuse.
On paper, the Irish just outmatched the Huskies. In fact, their quarterback Zach Frazier transferred to Connecticut because he couldn't beat out Jimmy Clausen for the starting job.
The way Notre Dame started the game, an Irish victory seemed imminent. The Irish came out clicking on all cylinders and got off to a 14-0 lead.
If a 14-0 lead doesn't make victory seem like a certainly, what if I told you that this Husky team with inferior talent would throw an interception in the end zone?
What if I told you that they would also have not one, but two touchdowns called back by holding penalties?
What if I also said that the kicker would miss a kick at the end of the game?
With all those things, there is no way this team would lose, right? Again though, this is the same program that can't beat Navy and Syracuse at home.
The Irish had it's share of mistakes too. Michael Floyd and Armando Allen both had fumbles.
For the third week in a row, Jimmy Clausen failed to move the team in the last minute with the game on the line.
The defense made Husky runners Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon look like Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.
I just feel bad for the guy in the picture. Golden Tate is one Domer who has played his heart out all year and deserved better than this.
Isn't just sad that Notre Dame can't even beat an inferior team that basically gave them the game?
It is so frustrating to be a Notre Dame fan that I just started laughing when Dixon scored the winning touchdown. Fortunately for me, my son Brady was born on Friday and nothing could ruin this weekend for me.
