Chad Johnson vs. Brian Maxwell: PPV Info, Live Stream and Fight Predictions

Sunday night will bring with it one of the more unusual boxing events in recent memory. Undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight YouTuber Logan Paul in an eight-round exhibition on Showtime pay-per-view.

While the undercard features two more traditional matchups—Badou Jack vs. Dervin Colina and Jarrett Hurd vs. Luis Arias—another exhibition will add to the entertainment value. Six-time NFL Pro Bowler Chad Johnson will make his boxing debut against Brian Maxwell.

Many fans are familiar with Johnson from his time with the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots. However, he has tried his hand at other athletic endeavors—including a stint on Dancing with the Stars, time with Boca Raton FC of the National Premier Soccer League and an intermission ride at a 2011 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event.

Maxwell, meanwhile, is a professional MMA fighter who holds an 0-1 record as a professional boxer.

As was the case with his PBR run, Johnson expects this fight to be one-off.

"This is a one-time thing," Johnson said, per Scott Christ of Bad Left Hook. "I've done some crazy things in life, and this is one to add and scratch off the bucket list. I'm coming in there to have fun and entertain."

What better place to entertain than on the undercard of Mayweather's latest spectacle?

Like Mayweather's fight, the Johnson-Maxwell bout will be an exhibition, meaning no points, judges or official winner. It is scheduled for four three-minute rounds. Conditioning may not be a significant factor for Johnson, who, despite being a former world-class athlete, is 43.

Johnson has taken his fight training seriously, even spending time with world boxing champions Jermell and Jermall Charlo.

"It was fun but hard. I enjoyed it," Johnson said of his training with the Charlo Brothers, per Hans Themistode of BoxingInsider.com.

While Maxwell has far more fighting experience than Johnson, he's never won a fight as a pro or in the bare-knuckle ranks. He does have a pair of wins on his MMA resume, but both came by submission. In terms of pure boxing skill, the 33-year-old may not carry a huge advantage.

Like Johnson, Maxwell is approaching the bout as an entertainment event rather than a grudge match.

"This is an exhibition, so we are coming to entertain the fans and put on a show," Maxwell said, per NY Fights. "But at the same time, we are two men who are coming in front of each other and have to fight. No matter the outcome, we're going to put on a great fight."

Expect Johnson's raw athleticism to match up with Maxwell's experience and comparative youth in a match that ends without a knockout. Maxwell may land more punches, but with no scoring or declared winner, expect four rounds of entertainment and a fine kick-off to the PPV.
