ALLEN IVERSON NOT COMING TO NEW YORK, WHAT NOW FOR THE KNICKS?
Last night it was said that there was 90% chance that Allen Iverson was going to be in a Knicks uniform by the end of the weekend, but today there is a 99% chance that Allen Iverson will NOT be in a Knicks uniform..ever, Donnie Walsh said this is for the best for the franchise and the players, but clearly he does not know what he is talking about, we are talking about a team who has had 9 losing seasons, currently, their best scorer is Allen Harrington who is averaging 19.5 ppg in 31 minutes coming off the bench. and they are 2-9 (18%). Bringing Allen was going to boost their scoring big time, bring talent, and experience, but no, it was going to take away minutes from their "developing players". The Knicks are hoping to sign Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, or Chris Bosh next year who are all hungry for a championship, but if you were one of them would you really sign with a team who will try to pay you a crap load of money so you can stay there for about 5 years in a rebuilding project? when you really dont need a crap load of money and are already a millionaire? Lebron, or wade or bosh is certainly no Michael Jordan so clearly they cant just go to New York and lead them to the NBA finals in a snap of finger. They have drained 7 years of their careers down the drain not winning one championship (except for Wade who is already 27 turning 28 this January), and the Knicks still expect to bring one of these superstars to come play for a crap team. If they really are trying to do the best for the franchise or win a championship they would bring in more talent! "cough" Allen Iverson? one of the greatest players ever to play the game who has a reputation for being the top 3 best scorers in the last decade, who is also coming at a extremely cheap price (1.3 million dollars). Look what the Boston Celtics did, they were at the bottom of the league, then they brought in Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett, and won a championship, not only that, but it also made their young players way better (Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, Glen Davis), so if the Knicks are having any hope of stoping their 9th losing season they should really start adding some talent to their roster, yes i know Allen Harrington and David Lee are talented, but they are not talented as Dwight Howard and Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis, or Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. So I say, Donnie Walsh go make some movements to your team, people in New York have already been waiting for 9 years for their team to get better, they dont have another 9 years for the developing players to get better, clearly superstars like Lebron, Wade, and Bosh all want to become NBA greats with NBA rings on their fingers, and this will not happen if they come to a franchise like the Knicks who have been a complete failure for the last decade.
