Cedric Benson Declares Himself Game-Time Decision for Sunday

Wayne MakelaNov 20, 2009

Cincinnati Bengals starting running back Cedric Benson has gone against several reports , declaring that he has not been ruled out for this week's game due to a hip injury he sustained in Week 10.

Benson can tell us anything he wants, but considering the Bengals should be just fine with a RBBC against a horrible Oakland Raiders run defense, it'd be foolish for Cincinnati to rush their stud back to action before he's 100 percent.

Fantasy Perspective: NFL Soup is declaring Benson a "sit" call this week, as he's likely to share the load even if he does play and would be a strong bet to be done before halftime in a game that could get lopsided very quickly.

We like Bernard Scott to make the start, while Brian Leonard could steal some carries and is always a strong candidate to be active in the passing game, especially on third downs.

Newly signed former Chief Larry Johnson has said that he will play this Sunday, but since he doesn't have any idea what his role will be, you should play (these guys ) on the safe side and leave him where he belongs: on the waiver wire .

Guys like Justin Forsett and Ladell Betts, who are actually both available in many leagues, are much safer bets for this week and the long-term.

Benson should be fully ready to go for Week 12, so even if he tries to play this week, we strongly urge you to avoid getting disappointed for the second straight week and just find another option .
