Friday Fantasy Football Injury Round-Up (Nov. 20)

Kevin RobertsNov 20, 2009

If you were a Ronnie Brown owner scrapping at the waiver wire heap before Thursday's action, or biting your finger nails over DeAngelo Williams's status, you can take a deep breath and relax for the next two days.

You have just under 48 hours to figure out your lineup, and with a large amount of injuries to some key players, there can never be enough information on their status, or the player's that could potentially replace them.

This article takes all the information from around the web and condenses it into short headlines, letting you in on player's statuses, and giving you an option or two if they are unable to go on Sunday.

Take a look at all the pressing concerns for the majority of fantasy owner's this week:

No Timetable For Michael Turner's Return

No timetable means no action for Week 11 . Falcons coaches and players won't admit it, because they want the Giants on their toes, but they'l be running without their "burner" this week, so you better start preparing for it.

Prognosis: Out for Week 11 .

Replacement Option: It's best to just keep the replacement from within, as the Falcons still love to run the ball and they've been doing it extremely well as of late. In related news, back-up Jerious Norwood has begun practicing again, but isn't a guarantee to play this week, and wouldn't be a safe bet for major action, either.

We're shooting for Jason Snelling to continue where he left off last week and pound the rock as the starter. He faces a fairly beatable Giants run defense. Other options to consider in lieu of losing Turner for the week are Justin Forsett, Ladell Betts, and Jamal Lewis. Lewis is on many waiver wires and faces a tasty match-up with the Detroit Lions.

Cedric Benson Unlikely To Face Oakland Raiders

Benson's injury wasn't so severe that he couldn't have played if the playoffs started today, but his hip is bad enough that Marvin Lewis doesn't mind resting him against an opponent that the Bengals probably don't need him to defeat.

Prognosis: Leave him on your bench

Replacement Option: There have been quiet rumors that Larry Johnson has been getting a solid amount of practice reps, but we don't buy it. Bernard Scott looked decent last week, and RB/FB Brian Leonard should get a few more carries, in addition to the help he gives as a receiver out of the backfield. Scott should be the main ball-carrier this week.

Kyle Orton Still Uncertain for Week 11

Head coach Josh McDaniels' really isn't leaning either way, citing Orton as a game-time decision, despite recent progress with a bum ankle.

Orton has played particularly well lately, and didn't fare too well when he played through injury last year, either.

Prognosis: Probable, but find another option .

Replacement Option: The Kansas City Chiefs won't be able to run against a stout Pittsburgh Steelers defense, so we like Matt Cassel to throw a ton, giving you a nice option outside of Orton. Matt Ryan should have to throw a lot with Michael Turner out, as well, so consider player him, despite a lackluster past few weeks.

Of course, there's always Chris Simms if there aren't any solid alternatives on your roster or available on the waiver wire.

Clinton Portis to Miss Second Straight Game

Washington is playing it very safe with Portis, and he has officially been ruled out for Week 11. He has an outside chances at returning for Week 12, but we'll give you updates on that later next week.

Prognosis: Out for Week 11 .

Replacement Option: Stick with the Redskins main guy, Ladell Betts, who topped 100 rushing yards and a score last week. The Dallas Cowboys won't make it easy on him this week, but if he can do that much damage against the Broncos solid run defense, he has a chance. He makes for a quality RB2 this week.

Correll Buckhalter Misses Thursday's Practice

This doesn't mean for sure that he won't play in Week 11, and we'll need to see how he does today (if he practices), but we're leaning towards a "sit" call.

Prognosis: Questionable, but sit him.

Replacement Option: Knowshon Moreno should be your starter out of the two , anyways, but if you're struggling to find another RB2 or a Flex play, see if you can't find Justin Forsett, Jason Snelling, or Ladell Betts left on the waiver wire. It doesn't sound like they'd be available, but believe us, crazier things have happened.
