Video: Kwity Paye Says His Mother Is Retiring After Being Drafted by Colts

Blake SchusterApr 29, 2021

Kwity Paye's mother may not be going into work on Friday. Or Monday. Or any day after.

The Indianapolis Colts made Paye their First Round draft pick on Thursday, selecting the edge rusher No. 21 overall and giving Paye an opportunity to treat his mom to whatever she wants for the foreseeable future.

"She's done working," Paye told ESPN with a wide smile. "She's retired."

The B/R NFL Scouting Department graded the Michigan product an 8.2 out of 10, comparing favorably to Cameron Wake and registering as the 22nd-best player in the draft this year. After racking up 97 total tackles and 11.5 sacks in 28 games over four seasons with the Wolverines, Paye enters the league as a surefire defensive star who can help elevate the Colts' defense immediately.

As soon as he signs his rookie contract, his mom can go ahead and kick her feet up. Her son's got it from there.
