Pac-10 Week 12 Preview

William BoorNov 18, 2009

College Gameday will be on a Pac-10 campus for the second time this year. Kirk, Lee, and Chris will be in Tucson, Arizona to watch the Ducks take on the Wildcats in a game that will more than likely decide who represents the Pac-10 in the Rose Bowl.

11Oregon @ Arizona: This is the game of the week in the conference. Whoever wins this game has total control of the Pac-10. Arizona will be looking to rebound following a loss to Cal last weekend. The Ducks are coming off a win over ASU, but will be looking to avenge their 2007 loss in Tucson where Dennis Dixon tore his ACL and Oregon’s National Championship Hopes were lost. Arizona is infamous for November upsets at home, but they will fall short of the upset this weekend. The Ducks offense is incredible and no one in the conference has slowed them down this year. I look for them to keep rolling and pick up a win against the Wildcats, putting them in position to clinch a Pac-10 title with a Civil War victory.

19 Oregon State @ Washington State: Washington State is still the laughing stock of division one football. The Beavers will win this one easily because everyone beats Washington State easily. The Cougars are in desperate need of a massive program overhaul and are probably looking forward to the offseason so that they do not continue to embarrass themselves every weekend. Oregon State will use this game as a tune up to get ready for the Ducks on December 3rd.

ASU @ UCLA: The Sun Devils will look to end their four game losing streak and keep the Bruins for clinching bowl eligibility. Samson Szakacsy will possibly make his first career start at quarterback. The sophomore showed promise last week against Oregon and gives the Sun Devils the mobility at the quarterback position that they lack with Sullivan and Osweiler. This game could go either way, but the Bruins are at home and have the momentum of a two game winning streak after they swept the Washington schools the past two weeks. ASU is searching for answers at the quarterback position and the Bruins should get the win on Saturday.

25 Cal @ 17 Stanford: This year’s Big Game takes on a different twist as the Bears are not the favorites. Stanford is ranked higher than Cal and should come away with the win. Stanford has beaten two top ten teams over the past two weeks. With Andrew Luck and Toby Gerhart, the Cardinal have one of the most balanced offenses in the country. Cal is coming off an upset over Arizona, but Stanford is playing as well as anyone in the country and will be looking to get a win over their bitter rivals.
