The Answer to My Prayers: Why Allen Iverson Should Come Back to the 76ers
As a 76ers' fan throughout my life, there was one thing I could not get myself to do. I could never dislike Allen Iverson not matter what he did. I understand that Iverson caused more controversy than T.O. did during his short stint with the Eagles, but Iverson was the face of 76ers basketball during the late 90s and early 2000s. He made basketball relevant again in Philly, and they gave him a free pass on the off the court issues. As Iverson was released by the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, I started to hope for Iverson to come back to Philly. This is not only because he would make the 76ers better, but also for his legacy as a Philly sports legend. Iverson is one of the best ever to play the game, and has been for a while. He has a NBA MVP award, four scoring titles, and is a ten-time All-star, but most of all when he was on the court he always gave it his all. I've seen Iverson play through more injuries in one season than some current players have played through during their whole careers. I always respected Iverson for this. Even if he didn't always make it to practice, you knew on gameday that the was going to be suiting up. Allen Iverson was a freak athlete even from his days in high school(search Iverson's football highlights on youtube and see what you think.) He reminds me of another black QB currently playing in Philly. For Iverson to come back to Philly would be magical because he would end his career in the right way even he just did a one day contract. I would still be happy. Iverson would bring something that is lacking to the 76ers right now, and that is a unconditional love for the game. That is why all Philly fans love Iverson. You always know where Iverson's heart is, even if his head isn't in the right place.
