Home Sliced: Celtics Take Game Four

Ron JohnsonJun 12, 2008

When the series moved to Los Angeles, Bill Plaschke was ready to call this the Lakers' series. When it moved to LA, Kobe was in his own environment. When it moved to the City of Angels, everyone thought that the Lakers would be taking it back to Boston tied 2-2.

Unfortunately for all of them, Boston didn't get that memo.

Led by the Boston Three Party, the Celtics moved within one win of the NBA Championship, and in the process, they made history by coming back from a 24-point deficit to defeat the Lakers in the Staples Center 97-91 in Game Four of the NBA Finals.

Paul Pierce, who finished with 20 points, looked up towards the sky when asked how the Celtics pulled it off. His partners in crime didn't do so bad either as KG finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds (yes, another double double) while Ray Allen polished his night off with 19 points and nine rebounds.

As for the Lakers, they're just wondering what the hell happened. Despite having a commanding lead and having the game well in hand, they let their hopes of a return to Boston being on a good note go up in smoke.

Kobe finished with a double double (17 points, 10 assists) while his supporting cast all finished in double figures points wise, led by shockingly enough Lamar Odom who had 19.

Phil didn't like the start time in Boston. He questioned the officiating in Boston. He just kept making excuses and said that the Lakers will be ready for Boston when the series move to LA.

But in the end, he was left sucking his thumb and curled up in a corner nursing his bad hip.

Now the series shifts back to Boston, and the Celtics have all the momentum. They have a 3-1 lead, a shot at closing the series out at home, and a chance to give Kobe Bryant a case of the MVP-hangover.

If this occurs, tell everyone who didn't vote for Pierce or KG for MVP and Doc for coach of the year that they're going to choke on the core if Sunday is indeed the ending to this year's NBA season.

And one more thing: I'd like to feel bad for Kobe, but I'm smiling so big that it looks like I got a Botox injection before I wrote this.

Game Five is Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. Boston time. In the event that Boston wins, celebration starts at midnight.

One more thing, Lakers fans: Los Angeles is now 15-1 (9-1 postseason) at home. Sorry...not really.
