HEIGHT: 6'6 1/8"
—Long frame at a legit 6'6" with 33 3/8" arms.
—Is a high-effort player with a motor that runs hot.
—Understands how to disrupt passing lanes when his pass-rushing moves don't get home.
—A secure tackler on the edge.
—His ability to bend looked much better at the Senior Bowl than it did at UAB.
—Unclear what type of player you are getting because of inconsistent bend, high-effort plays but maturity questions.
—Is more of a late-in-the-down pass-rusher who cleans up sacks on quarterbacks who hold the ball too long than one who wins with quickness.
—Is fairly light for a player of his height.
—Loses ground at the point of attack.
—Worst game of his season was likely against Miami, his only Power Five matchup of the year.
41 TKL, 9 TFL, 4.5 SK, 1 INT, 1 PBU
—Was suspended from Florida for a credit card scandal that led to he and fellow Gators lineman Kadeem Telfort (now also at UAB) leaving the team.
—Played junior college football in 2018 following his suspension at Florida.
—Made first and second team All-CUSA in his two years at UAB.
A project pass-rusher, Jordan Smith has inconsistently flashed tools that correlate with a future NFL starter while at UAB. The long pass-rusher must do a better job at generating pressure early in the down, but he's a fairly high-floor player on the field because of his hot motor. Should he continue to grow into his 6'6" frame while he fine-tunes his pass-rushing arsenal, he has the potential to crack an NFL edge defender rotation.
