MMA: Mayhem Miller Against MMA's Next Big Thing: "Jacare"

Ryan WalesJun 12, 2008

Jason "Mayhem" Miller is one of the craziest personalities in a crazy sport. Miller is only twenty-seven years old and has been fighting professionally since 2001. Miller has fought a who's who of the mixed martial arts world. Miller is one of those guys that has no fear: he will fight anybody, anywhere, anytime.

His antics are notorious throughout the MMA world. He has been known to give a big smile or a thumbs up when in a really bad spot. He'll be busted open and he'll smile at the camera and wink, or give a nonchalant shrug.

Miller is a fighter that steps into the ring for one thing, and that's the fans. Never boring, always the entertainer, the guy has a charisma about him. Some people have called him arrogant and annoying, while others think of him as witty and funny.

Miller doesn't hesitate to tell you what he thinks, and if his remarks irk someone, it puts a bigger smile on his face. He likes having the ability to get under someone's skin, to disrupt their game-plan.

In many ways he is like former UFC fan-favorite Tito Ortiz. You either love him or hate him, there is no gray area.

Miller sports a 21-5 record and has one fight in the UFC, which was a decision loss to current champion Georges St. Pierre.

Miller has a big task ahead of himself for his next fight. He is fighting Ronaldo "Jacare"  Souza. Jacare is not a household name for most casual fans, but those that follow the sport closely know who he is.

Jacare has been claimed by many to be the next big thing to come out of Brazil. His ground game is top-tier, and has won eight fights in a row, all by submission. In 2006 he grappled with Randy Couture. After the bout Couture invited Jacare to train with him in Vegas.

Now it's 2008 and Jacare finds himself about to step in the ring with the biggest test of his young career.

This will be a true test for Jacare, if he can beat Mayhem Miller, he has truly taken the first steps to super-stardom.

Who will win? The outspoken Miller, or the phenom Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza? Saturday night we will find out if Jacare is the real deal or if it's Miller time.
