
Super Bowl Halftime Show 2021: Reaction to The Weeknd's Performance
This year's halftime show during Super Bowl LV—won by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 31-9 blowout over the Kansas City Chiefs—featured The Weeknd and included young people around the United States explaining to their parents and grandparents how his name was spelled and that he is just one guy, not a whole group.

Halftime shows always seem to divide opinions on a number of fronts and, as was to be expected, this year's show was met with a mixed response.

Look, everything about this year's Super Bowl was a bit different in our COVID-19 world. There were fewer fans in the stands, masks on the sidelines and even the Pro Bowl was played on Madden 21.
While past performers had full stadiums to perform in front of, The Weeknd did not. It was just a slightly different vibe and, love his music or not, he put on a solid show.
Now, was it Prince good? Nah. That's basically a borderline impossible standard to meet. But hey, in a year when people haven't been able to go to concerts, it was nice for people to see some live music, even if it came in the middle of a football game.
