Dick Jauron: Nice Guys Finish Last?

Go back in your memory bank and remember your school days. You know the time where the overly cocky and rude/cool guys seemed to get all the attention and the girls. Or what about when the star QB on the high school team had the worst game ever... but the lost was blamed on the "nice guys" on the offensive line. For years and years to come I am sure... Nice guy's will get the short end of the stick.

Enter Coach Jauron. Other coaches, players and owners around the league say he is the nicest person you will ever meet. A truly good guy, who genuinely cares for his players and wants the best for them. I would even go as far as to say a father figure type. Those good qualities and more that I haven't named, could not save his job as the head coach of the buffalo bills.

We should not be surprised though.... because it is ALWAYS easier to blame the nice guy. He won't fight back or make a huge fuss about it, he won't disrespect authority and blame others. Nope, the nice guy just takes the decision in stride and keeps moving forward with his life.

Coach Jauron could easily come out and say: Hey! We fired the offensive coordinator right before the regular season, or we let J.P. Losman go to the UFL. He could even say Ralph Wilson should be the one to step aside and let a younger football mind make some better decisions. He won't..... You know why?  He's a nice guy!

So to all you other nice guys out there, take this as a lesson learned... show some fight, show your strength or you may be on the outside looking in on a lot of things. With that said though, there is nothing wrong with being a nice guy. Keep your values and morals in tact and continue to push for what you believe in. Bottom-line is.... being who you are has gotten you really far... so don't change because of one minor setback. Keep on trucking (as they say) there are better opportunities ahead!! That goes for you too Coach!! Nice Guy's Don't finish last.... They Get a Head Start on New Things First!!!
