Warriors' Steve Kerr Once Fined Drake $500 for Being Late with Steph, Draymond
It's not too often an NBA coach gets to fine a world-famous rapper, so Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr apparently took advantage of his one opportunity.
Kerr shared a story with reporters Sunday about a chance he received to issue a $500 fine to Drake, along with Draymond Green and Steph Curry, for being late to a team plane.
"We had a team rule at the time, that you could bring a friend on the plane a couple times a year," Kerr said. "Unbeknownst to me, Steph decided to use one of his slots for Drake. Drake got on the plane that night with Draymond and Steph, and I fined all three of them for being late, and Drake paid his $500 fine."
Drake later referenced being on the Warriors team plane on his song, "Free Smoke," and referenced his relationship with Curry and Kevin Durant: "I took the team plane from Oracle / Mama never used to cook much / Used to chef KD / Now me and Chef, KD / Bet on shots for 20 G's."
Given his prominence in the story, Kerr should probably be disappointed he didn't wind up making the album.
