Callum D'SouzaNov 16, 2009

It is something that occurs on every team on the planet. There will alway's be a player who consistently and constantly gives 100 percent, barely putting a foot wrong but sadly receiving little or no credit for their effort.

Meanwhile, the so-called superstars who lack the consistency of the underrated performer reap success off a couple of good performances.

Arsenal is a team that has many underrated players whose efforts are overshadowed by what Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas or Andrei Arshavin produced.

Who do you think is Arsenal's most overrated player?

Bacary Sagna

The French defender arrived at the Emirates in 2007 from French side Auxerre. Since his move to the Premier League, Sagna has been an outstanding performer, primarily at right back.

The 26 year old is one of the most consistent, best defenders, and most underrated players in the footballing world. With Arsenal playing sensational attacking football that ensures a host of goals, Sagna's contribution is overshadowed.

Denilson

Last season was a huge turning point in the Brazilian's career. The 21 year old was Arsenal's most capped player for the 2008/2009, although many of the season plaudits went the way of van Persie, Arshavin, Nasri and Fabregas. Many forget about the sensational efforts from a young Samba star.

Denilson established himself in the "invisible wall" role and also stepped up when Cesc Fabregas was injured for three months. Denilson was still at a young age and showed maturity and skill of a experienced midfielder.

Gael Clichy

Since the departure of Ashley Cole, Gael Clichy has not looked back securing the left back role and becoming one of the world's strongest left backs. Clichy is a speedy and powerful left back who is also a very capable and useful attacker.

His contribution's in attack and defence, however, usually go unnoticed.

Alexandre Song

Last season we witnessed Alexandre Song make the step up into the Arsenal's first XI. Although he received heavy criticism for lack of defensive performances, many of his strong performances went unnoticed.

This season Song has gained from his experience, learnt from his mistakes and matured greatly. He is now a consistent defensive midfielder. Not only does he chop down the opposing midfield attacks, he also tracks back magnificently allowing his defenders to venture forward and attack.

Aaron Ramsey

Since coming to the Gunners as a highly promising teenager, the Welshman has only be granted a handful of opportunities. But recently the teenager has began to show he deserves more chances. The youngster has matured since arriving to North London in 2008 and looks set to break into the first team.

Ramsey is talented midfielder who has been linked to a younger Johan Cruyff with his ability to open and create play.

Johan Djourou

Despite picking up a agonising injury forcing him out off the 2009-2010 campaign, Johan Djourou is a worthy candidate. Djourou managed a relatively injury-free season last campaign and many fail to realise how well the Swiss performed.

He was a credible deputy to the likes of William Gallas and Kolo Toure. The 22 year old was a good clearer, and his height and strength were vital at certain times.

Emmanuel Eboue

Last season was not the greatest of seasons for the Ivorian. Booed by his own fans and a number of lackluster display's almost saw the departure of the versatile African.

However, Eboue remained at the club for 2009/2010 and has since been a useful attribute to the Arsenal squad. Thanks to his versatility, Eboue can play just about anywhere.

Eboue is a great impact player from the bench with his pace, balance and ability to weave through opponents. His strong defensive ability allow Bacary Sagna to have a break mid week and stay fresh and fit. All round he is an incredibly useful option.

So who do you think is the most underrated player at Arsenal?
