Rob GoldbergOct 15, 2020

The path to integration in baseball was long, going back to the formation of regional Black teams in the late 1800s and including the founding of the Negro National League in the early 20th century.

With 2020 marking the centennial anniversary of the NNL, Field of Dreams Deferred takes a look at key people who made a difference in the history of the Negro Leagues, from early players like Moses Fleetwood Walker and Rube Foster—who was also a manager, owner and the first president of the NNL—to contributors like journalist Sam Lacy and team owner Effa Manley.

Check out the stirring stories of the Negro National League and other Negro Leagues as well as their place in history.
