Kentucky Derby 2020 Odds: Latest Vegas Betting Lines for Churchill Downs Field
Tiz the Law should receive the highest amount of bets going into the 2020 Kentucky Derby.
The Belmont Stakes winner is posted as the early favorite and will likely receive plenty of betting attention before the horses leave the gates at Churchill Downs Saturday afternoon.
The major difference between the Tiz the Law's status and most other Derby favorites is he already has a Triple Crown victory to his name.

The New York-bred Tiz the Law thrived in his Triple Crown debut by beating Dr Post by 3¾ lengths at the Belmont Stakes.
In preparation for Saturday's race, the colt conquered the field at the Travers Stakes in his home state. The August 8 victory also showed he can shine at a longer distance than the Belmont, which was shortened to 1⅛ miles. The Travers Stakes was a 1¼-mile competition.
The only thing you could argue against Tiz the Law's position as favorite is he has not competed against a large field in his last two races, which may make him uncomfortable, depending on his post position.
If he gets drawn in the middle or on the outside, he may deal with traffic that prevents him from getting to the front right away. Those issues were not apparent at the Belmont and Travers, which had 10 and eight entries, respectively.
From a betting perspective, Tiz the Law may not carry a ton of value by post time due to his overwhelming success as a three-year-old. Since he is on a four-race winning streak, he will likely drop below even odds at some point in the week; and if too much attention goes his way, the price could be too high to get a great return.
Honor A.P. and Authentic are each capable of ending Tiz the Law's Triple Crown threat and should come at higher prices at post time.
None of those three contenders raced at the Belmont, and Max Player and Sole Volante are the only holdovers joining Tiz the Law in the second leg of the Triple Crown.
Authentic carries the best value ahead of Art Collector and Honor A.P. since he has three victories and a second-place finish in 2020. He is also the only other horse in the field to rack up 200 points in the qualification process for the Derby. He reinforced that total with a July 18 win at the Haskell Stakes.
Honor A.P. is the only horse to beat Authentic this year, after topping the field at June's Santa Anita Derby, but Art Collector carries more experience and a better track record than Honor A.P. and Authentic, as he has won five of six races.
The other advantage Art Collector holds is his time on the Churchill Downs course. He competed in four allowance races there before testing himself at the Blue Grass Stakes and Ellis Park Derby.
However, the common theme with each of their triumphs is they have not come in the same race as Tiz the Law.
If Tiz the Law manages the challenges of Churchill Downs and runs a similar race to the Belmont, he could outpace all of his top competitors.
Of note, Art Collector—who had 7-1 odds—was scratched from the race Tuesday morning due to a minor foot issue.
