Alabama, Florida, Texas: Thoughts About The BCS
It has been another wonderful football season for us fans. There have been so many unexpected teams play well this year. It is now time to start considering where the pieces all fall together.
Florida: Florida has played themselves closer and closer to the goal of an undefeated season. The schedule for Florida has been much easier this year than last. The Florida offense has not shown the ability to stretch the field. This had led to many games being closer than anyone anticipated. Tim Tebow has not had a Heisman quality season. This has lead to a different type of Florida Offense this year. Make no mistake this is not last years Florida. I do not see Florida getting to the BCS Title Game. They are not explosive enough to pull it off this year.
Cincinnati: Cincinnati does not belong in this discussion. They are a decent team no doubt. The last two weeks have made a huge flaw more than evident. A team with a big physical offensive line and a power running game will run all over Cincinnati. A team wit a fast secondary will shut down the Cincinnati Offense. Cincinnati is not the best team in Ohio, not to mention the nation. They are simply not physical enough to compete with the Florida's and Texas's of College Football.
TCU: This is a sound football team. They are tough and physical. They can play any team in the country a great game. This team will not disappoint any bowl committee and that includes the BCS Title Game.
Boise State: This is another team that will be dominated by any of the big players. A match up between Cincinnati and Boise State would be an excellent game. If Boise plays Texas or Alabama the results will be an ugly lop sided contest and a disappointing bowl for everyone.
Texas: While they have played a largely cup cake schedule like Florida this year, this is a team with destiny written all over them. They have everything necessary to match up to any team and give the country a game to remember. Their defense is better this year and their offense seems to improve weekly.
Alabama: This is the strongest, most physical team in the running this year. They have played the toughest schedule of the undefeated s and powered their way through. They have not had championship production from the quarterback so far. This is the only weakness on this team.
In the end it seems most pre season prognosticators had it right. Texas will play the SEC Champion for the BCS Title. There is one legitimate BCS buster that will be left out. Parity has ruled in every Major conference this year. Never have the conferences been so close from top to bottom over all.
This BCS Season is shaping up to be one to remember. The SEC, PAC 10, Big 10, are going to have near record numbers of bowl eligible teams. A close look at the bowl season this year could settle that long debated question of which Conference is stronger. It is as competitive a bowl season shaping up as there has ever been.
