Thomas is the fifth player in this year's game to receive the illustrious 99 overall rating. He joins a group that also includes Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams, Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers and Stephon Gilmore of the New England Patriots.
It's hard to argue against Thomas as the NFL's best wideout. He has had recorded at least 92 receptions and 1,137 yards in each of his first four seasons. The 27-year-old set an NFL record with 149 catches and led the league with 1,725 receiving yards in 2019.
Hopkins joined the Cardinals after a March trade with the Houston Texans. He has racked up 219 receptions, 2,737 yards and 18 touchdowns over the past two seasons combined.
Among the positional rankings released by EA Sports thus far, wide receivers and pass-rushers are the only two that have at least 10 players with overall ratings of 90 or better.
Eight of the top 10 wideouts by Madden NFL 21 ratings had at least 1,000 yards last season. Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers (997) and Tyreek Hill of the Chiefs (860) failed to hit that mark, but both players missed four games because of injuries.
Madden NFL 21 will be drop on Aug. 28 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows. It will also receive a holiday release for next-gen systems, including the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.
