Ken Stabler Arrested Again on DUI Charges—It's a Big Deal

BamaNation.netJun 11, 2008

I don't care how old you are, who you work for, or what you've been through in your life. I don't care if your dad was a drunk, your mom beat you and you hate sports in general—Ken Stabler deserves to go to jail!

What I do care about is alcoholics not learning their lesson from previous DUI's.

If you didn't already know...

"Former NFL standout Kenny "The Snake" Stabler was arrested Sunday morning for drunken driving in Robertsdale. The arrest happened around 1am off of Highway 59. Stabler was later released on bond. The Foley Native has been arrested at least twice before for drunken driving--once in 1995 and again in 2001. Stabler played for the University of Alabama before starting his 14-year NFL career as a quarterback for the Oakland Raiders, Houston Oilers, and New Orleans Saints."

This comes as Stabler's third arrest (1995, 2001, 2008) for drinking and driving. Two arrests have been while he has been an employee of the University of Alabama.

You can argue that it's not a big deal because "he didn't take the breathalyzer and this will play out in court" the fact of the matter is that Ken Stabler has neglected to fix a problem that has been ongoing since he was in college.

"In 2006, there were 13,470 fatalities in crashes involving an alcohol-impaired driver (BAC of .08 or higher) – 32 percent of total traffic fatalities for the year."

So you can say it's not a big deal all you want, let's let him walk free—let's keep him on the broad casting crew, lets endorse him, rally behind him, support him, pray for him, turn the other cheek ... let's do all that and more.

But when he does it again, and hits and kills your dad, mom or child - I don't want to hear about it.
