World Champs Sky Blue FC To Hold Player Combines For Next Season
Defending Women's Professional Soccer champion Sky Blue FC is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a pair of open tryouts in the upcoming months with two player combines. The first open tryout will take place on Dec. 15-16, and the second on Jan. 5-6, with both combines hosted at Robbinsville Field House at 153 Manor Way in Robbinsville, New Jersey.
"We are looking for players with an ability to read the game and play one-two touch with a capability to give great passes," Sky Blue FC head coach Pauliina Miettinen remarked. "We want players who are able to make things happen with their personal strengths. We want players with a winning attitude."
Registration for each player combine is $75, and must be paid through the Sky Blue FC online registration that is listed below. The registration deadline for the December tryout is Thursday, Dec. 10, and the deadline for the January combine is Tuesday, Dec. 29. Each session of the open tryouts will run from 1-5:30 pm, and the combines will include both tactical, and technical training that will be led by the Sky Blue FC coaching staff. Players must arrive game-ready (cleats, no screw-ins), and prepared to participate on both days of their respective combine.
"The open tryouts are an opportunity for both Sky Blue FC, and aspiring players to connect," Sky Blue FC General Manager Gerry Marrone stated. "The point of our team is to find and foster talent on all levels --national, international-- and with the open tryouts, locally."
"We encourage any interested players to come out for this experience. The open tryout is an opportunity for players to get a sense of the professional level, get to know Sky Blue FC, and also a chance to be discovered as a developmental player for the team."
Also on hand at the combine, will be Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues, the W-League affiliate program of Sky Blue FC. Space for the open tryouts is limited, so interested players are encouraged to register as quickly as they can. These combines are intended for college seniors, or players who have completed their college eligibility, and all participants must be at least 18 years old.
