Fantasy Booking Best Trades Between WWE and AEW

Donald WoodFeb 7, 2020

One of the best parts of the Wednesday Night War between NXT and All Elite Wrestling is all of the fantasy booking that comes from having two companies competing.

Trading performers is not something AEW and WWE could conceivably pull off, but that doesn't stop wrestling fans from thinking about the deals that would benefit both brands in the long run.

Whether it's AEW trading for an underused Superstar who would become a breakout wrestler on its roster or WWE's main roster trading for younger performers to strengthen its farm system, there are ample options for marquee trades.

Here are some of the most interesting trade possibilities between WWE and AEW.

Adam Page for Finn Balor

1 of 4

The biggest possible trade for both companies would be an exchange of "Hangman" Adam Page for Finn Balor.

For AEW, giving up a 28-year-old rising star could be a major blow to the long-term future of the brand, but acquiring a bona fide star in Balor would be a significant coup. As The Demon, Balor would instantly be the promotion's top-selling star and a main event talent.

As for WWE, sending the 38-year-old Balor away would hurt merchandise sales and NXT's credibility in the short term, but the company would be replenishing its system with a wrestler who could become a top performer on the main roster for the next decade.

With AEW needing credibility now and WWE having a deep-enough roster to trade for a younger star, a Page-for-Balor trade would be a win-win situation.

The Revival for Dark Order

2 of 4

In the tag team division, WWE should treat The Revival like an impending free agent that doesn't plan to sign and deal them before the deadline.

In return, WWE would receive the Dark Order.

When trading impending free agents, the return isn't as high as it should be for the talent involved because of the uncertainty of how long they will be with the company. While the writing seems to be on the wall that The Revival will sign with AEW long term, WWE would be looking to get anything in return before the duo walk.

The Dark Order has become the butt of jokes for some cynical fans, but the gimmick and characters are entertaining. Add in the talented performers involved, and they would be a welcome addition to the NXT brand since WWE CEO Vince McMahon couldn't care less about tag team wrestling on the main roster.

Naomi for Leva Bates

3 of 4

In this case, Naomi and Leva Bates need a fresh start, so a deal would be mutually beneficial.

Naomi is one of the most talented female performers signed to WWE today, but she has been passed over and cast aside far too often. While her ongoing feud with Bayley will appease her supporters for the time being, it's clear WWE doesn't view her as a top star.

In AEW, Naomi would be money and fighting for the women's world title.

As for Leva Bates, she has been forgotten as The Librarian and needs to find a new character that matches her in-ring work and charisma. Whether it would be Raw or SmackDown, Bates would instantly be one of the top women in WWE.

Cesaro for Sammy Guevara

4 of 4

Just as WWE could afford to give up a bigger name to get a future prospect in the Adam Page-Finn Balor deal, the companies would pull off a similar trade with Cesaro for Sammy Guevara.

Cesaro is one of the most popular Superstars on the roster when given a chance to shine, but he has been put on the back-burner time and time again. In AEW, Cesaro would be a top guy and fighting for the world title within a year.

On the other hand, WWE dealing the 39-year-old Cesaro for the 26-year-old Guevara would be an indicator the company is building for the future. Guevara has the in-ring ability and charisma to be a big star, but he needs time to grow as a performer.

The Cesaro-for-Guevara deal would be a major coup for both companies and help to improve both products for the foreseeable future.
