Calling All NY Giant Fans...

Is anyone still with me, or has everyone lost hope?

As a die hard NY Giant fan, the week 9 loss, the 4th loss  of the 09 season against the Chargers, hurt more than any other game this year, by a long shot. Your going to think I'm crazy, but this loss, hurt more than the divisional playoff game against the Eagles in 08. I know that sounds insane, but as much as I preach hope and believing, last year, as soon as I heard Philly was going to make the plyoffs, I knew they'd be the ones to knock us out. God I hate them, but thats neither here nor there, back to the most recent heartbreaker.

First of all, I still cant believe know one has mentioned this, on that first drive in the red zone, or "green zone" whatever, Manning hit Smith for a gain of 8 on first down. The Charges jusmped offside, and Coughlin declined the penalty. That was a terrible call, instead of 1st and 5 it was 2nd and 2. 2 that the Giants were unable to get. You NEVER trade a down for 3 yards, that is essentially what Tom did, and in my honest opinion, cost the Giants not only points, but early momentum of off a beautiful long drive.

Feagles is in a real slump too, mishandled a good snap and probably cost us 3 points which may have been the difference, and had another 30 yard punt, that's like his 5th punt less than 40 yards in the last 2 games. Corey Webster, I'm always hooting and hollering about how great Corey Webster is. This is a guy I hated in his early days. In 07, he started the first 3 games, and was eaten alive out there, I used to scream to get him off the Field. Something happen to Corey Webster when he was benched in 07, because he was a new guy in the playoffs. In my honest opinion he's only gotten better since then, however, Corey had a ruff one last night.

In mine and Corey Webster's defense, I think they expect a little too much out of him sometimes. I've really been trying to give Bill Sheradon a pass, because its still new, but he makes some really bad defensive play calls. Rouse played for CC Brown, and I think he played really well. Michael Johnson actually played the ball in the air and caught it, imagine that. Terrell Thomas is really coming into his own, and as much as that loss hurt, some positives can be taken from week 9.

Now Bill Sheradon, why was he so aggressive on that last drive?

Why was Corey Webster on an island all night long, with no help covering one of the best deep threats in the game?

Corey's a good corner, he's not Deon Sanders. In a situation where the team thats down needs 7, they only have 1 time out, a Field goal does nothing, why are you blitzing 50% of the time. Are you insane?

The clock is on your team, you play a prevent defense, you give em the underneath stuff and make the tackle, its basic football. Even if the get 10 yards a play, they only have 1 time out, why are you sending 7 guys and leaving your corner on their number 1 receiver with no help?

Awful defensive play calling, awful!

The same thing happen to us when John Fox went over to the Panthers, our D was pretty bad, now Spags is gone, and the D is not great again.

The positives you can take from this game:

• Eli is back, dont know if it was a slump or his foot, but he's back
• They did get pressure on the Quaterback
• They fed off the defense in the second half, after a big strong defensive stop, they marched right down the field and got 6
• Their was actually Giants defenders in the middle of the field

Don't lose hope, week 9 was a step in the right direction, and if they rip off 4 in a row, they'll be right back in the mix of Super Bowl contenders. Thanks giving day is a big one, I'm so siked for that game Thursday, it's going to be big. Of course first they must knock off Atlanta, we're going to need the head to heads against playoff temas like Atlanta.
