If Rich Rodriguez Doesn't Have a Hot Seat Yet He Deserves One

Larry BurtonNov 7, 2009

At Michigan, fans are beginning to tire of the 'wait till next year' talk. There was supposed to be marked improvements on this year's team.

Now it's beginning to look like yet another lonely sit at home post season, another losing record and yet another black eye to the Michigan program.

Can we now go ahead and say it about this year's Michigan team? They suck.

Is it too early to say that the same about the Rodriguez hire also?

So crank up the rumor mill and put him squarely on the coach's hot seat list if he wasn't already.

How many more season will the Michigan administration watch as Rodriguez tries to turn a bull dozier team into a shiny Ferrari?

Unless Rich pulls of absolute miracles against top 20 Wisconsin and Ohio State it could possibly be as soon as this season.

Is anyone doing the math on what Michigan is shelling out to him for each win?

Something must be done before such continued poor showings start heavily affecting recruiting for future teams.

Rich Rod signed a six year contract that pays 2.5 million dollars a year with a four million dollar buyout that reduces $500,000 for each year.

This means if he was fired at the end of this season, Michigan may be on the line to pay out three million dollars. That might buy a lot of time on the hot seat to penny pinching administrators.

I wonder how many times Rich has had to hear his wife Rita tear into him the "I told you we should have never left West Virginia!"

Unfortunately for Rodriguez it's probably as often as he's about to asked about feeling the heat from the hot seat.
