Are You A Real NY Giant Fan?

Vincent BoccalinoNov 7, 2009

So...

Are you a NY Giants fan, better yet are you a real NY giants fan?

I know, being a real NY Giant fan has gotten a bit harder in recent weeks. We're in week 9 of the 2009 season and 'Big Blue' is on a 3 game slide. They've got San Diego this week, but I'm confident they'll get a win at home. Beacause, a real fan never gives up on his team, if you shut that embarrassment in Philly off any sooner than the 4th quarter, I hate to break it to ya, a real fan watched it until a come-back bordered on impossible.

If "God forbid" they drop the next 2 and head it to the post season stretch at 5 and 5, all the nay sayers will be out and about. The same guys that swore Eli was a bum and that we would never win a super bowl with him, the same guys that expected the Giants to lose the wild card game in Tampa in 07, and when they got out of Florida with a win, it didn't matter because Dallas was going to kill them anyway. Green Bay in the cold and wind, against the abominal snow man that wears a number 4 on his back, yea right...

  • "The 18-0 Patriots are 18-0 for a reason".
  • "They may be the best team of all time".
  • "Tom Brady can't lose in a big spot".
  • "Who's going to cover Randy Moss? "LOL".. Corey Webster"?

I can list so many negative Nancy comments I've heard over the years, your eyes will fail you before you can read them all.

I know I'm rambling, here's my point?

The real NY Giant fans always believe, its the NFL, any given Sunday, anything can happen. I'll admit, sometimes my biased opinion sounds silly, but I truly believe those silly opinions. I sincerely believe Corey Webster is in the top 5 corners in the whole league.

Some may say I'm crazy, Corey Webster, c'mon! I guarantee, anyone that completely dismisses the fact that Corey Webster is one of the better corners in this league, does NOT watch every single play on Sunday like I do. I know football, I played corner, again probably another biased opinion, but I really feel like I have a superior knowledge of this game. Cockiness, no confidence.

As soon as Kenny Phillips went down I knew we were in BIG trouble. If your a real Giant fan you know, we have never had a game breaking safety. We always have bad safeties that couldn't play the ball in the air if their life depended on it. Yea Shaun Williams was good for a while, but he was a tipical NYG safety, good in the box, against the run, around the line of scrimmage. As sad as this is to say, the best ball hawking safety we've had, in the last 10-12 years was probably Persy Ellsworth. It wasn't Tito Wooten, Sam Garnes, or Vencie Glenn. It wasn't James Butler or Jesse Campbell either. We had Ryan Clark who's now Pittsburgh FS, but we let him go, and he's a good safety.

Bill Sheradon must learn fast how to make adjustments on the fly, in the 2 games that they were cut to ribbons in (Philly & NO) I saw NO adjustments at all! CC Brown bites on play-actions like he's a vampire with a shot at bella..  We finally have a future superstar at the safety spot, and he's out for the year. I really hope that they can get that secondary fixed fast!

If your a real NY Giant fan, you haven't lost hope, you really belive they'll get it turned around, I know I do. They have a very limited time to do it, Phillip Rivers to Vincent Jackson, can put a wrench in our comeback attemptt early and often, lets hope they get it fixed. This game is even more important because week 10 is a bye week, and if your a NY Giant fan, you already know how they preform after the bye while under the helm of Tom Coughlin. Is Tom to blame, no, because they were pretty bad after the bye under Jim Fassel too. They better come out on top this week, or it could get a lot uglier before it gets 'pretty'.
