On the Road Again: Baylor Bears Looking for Answers, Searching for W's
Willie Nelson and others may have said they couldn’t wait to be on the road again, but I am pretty sure the Baylor Bears would disagree.
This afternoon, Baylor once again aims for their first conference win in a road matchup with Missouri.
And as mentioned before, the road ahead doesn’t get any easier for the Bears.
With all the roads this year’s Baylor team has been down, a victory would certainly help boost moral about now.
After playing a great second half last weekend against Nebraska in a 20-10 setback, the Bears are hoping to enter today’s game with that same mental attitude.
“I think that we need to bring that second half momentum that we had and carry that to the start of the game on Saturday,” senior linebacker Joe Pawelek told Baylor’s official athletic site.
“That's a characteristic of us recently, getting off to a slow start. By the end of the game we're playing good but by that point in the game we're kind of looking around saying well if this didn't happen and this didn't happen we'd be...so I think it's more of us starting fast and going from there.”
IF the Bears can start fast today in Missouri, Baylor could very well escape with their first Big 12 victory.
“We know how we can play now and how we should be playing,” junior cornerback Clifton Odom said. “It is just going out there and doing it these last four games. Our season is not over.”
That’s what’s so great about this green and gold bunch; they truly never give up, and it’s something I truly cherish about this team (and it speaks numbers to Baylor head coach Art Briles).
“We had a good game with them last year, a real good football game, probably one of the better ones we played overall last year,” Briles said. “At that time they were a pretty high ranked team and we were a pretty hot football team, we felt pretty confident about what we were doing as a football team. What we have to do is create that same momentum we had the other day in the second half and I think we have to start with that Saturday.”
Time to get out there and play some football…
