Alabama-LSU: Who Wants it More?

BamaFreakNov 6, 2009

Let's start this one off with stating that Alabama has not knocked of the LSU Tigers In Bryant-Denny Stadium since 1999. That stat is huge.

Last year in Baton Rouge, Nick Saban was able to make his return to Death Valley a sweet one as the Tide knocked off the Tigers in a close over time win. Both squads played their absolute best, and both squads came out with something to be happy about. LSU was not the favorite then, nor will they be this year. It is simply going to be who wants it more.

I think that LSU needs it more. This may be their last shot at the BCS title this year. If they let this one slip, so does the title. On the other side of the ball is a team who maybe wants it a little more. Alabama wants it more simply because of revenge. They know that if this one slips there is a chance that their rematch on December 5 in Atlanta with Florida may be gone. That is not what they want.

Last season Florida ended Alabama's title hopes in the SEC Championship game. Alabama went in No. 1 and Florida No. 2. After a surprising 12-0 season, the Tide had all hopes up for the SEC title, but left the Georgia Dome empty handed in bitter defeat.

Now, they try to make their return to the dome, but this may be harder than experts think. Saturday, Alabama will have to go out on the field prepared for a LSU team that hasn't shown much thus far in the season. I believe that LSU will come out firing on all cylinders. They will not look like the LSU team the experts predicted would come.

Their offense is what they need to get motivated because it is going up against one of the best defenses in the nation. If they can get their team going then they may be able to keep it close and might be able to come out with the W.

Alabama will need to get their offense going. Greg McElory has kind of gone into a shell the last few weeks, and is not putting up the kind of numbers we Alabama fans would like. He started the season off with a bang, but that's about all he has done this year. Don't get me wrong, he is a good quarter back, but we need a little more if want to see that national title coming home to our old Alma mater.

This will be a well played game that which both teams will fight until the bitter end. Who comes out with the victory is anonymous, but if the experts are right then my Tide will be in the SEC Championship December 5 after clinching the SEC west Saturday.

Roll Tide!
