The semi-finals have thrown up two interesting encounters, and despite Senegal and Algeria holding the status of favourites, their opponents will feel they have a chance.
The tournament has been incredibly tight to date. Knockout matches have regularly gone to extra time and penalties, or they have been decided by a single goal in 90 minutes.
Senegal are the favourites to win the Africa Cup of Nations, but they lost 1-0 to Algeria in the group stage and have appeared less than convincing.
The Lions of Teranga, who have Liverpool forward Sadio Mane among their ranks, could only fashion 1-0 wins over Uganda and Benin in the knockout rounds and are yet to truly spark.
Algeria have impressed, though, and Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has been one of the players of the tournament.
The Desert Foxes captain has been inspirational, with the midfielder linking with the team's forward line at every opportunity.
Nigeria and Tunisia will be the underdogs in the semi-finals, but both have been consistent throughout the tournament.
The Tunisians posted three draws in the group stage, but Nigeria won twice. Victories by a 1-0 margin over Burundi and Guinea underlined the Super Eagles' ability to gain three points while keeping clean sheets.
Senegal and Algeria might have the additional quality in their squads, but if the semi-finals remain tight, any of the four nations involved could be contesting the showpiece on July 19.
Prediction: Senegal and Algeria progress to the AFCON final.
