Anarchy in BCS Country
Here's the bottom line: My prediction is slowly but surely coming true. I said that there will be not be an undefeated team in the Top 5. Here's the proof so far.
Wrong Cats win in Lexington...or was it the right Cats?
It was indeed a wild one in Lexington, but no better ending than watching the "unstoppable" force being stopped by a team that no one outside of Kentucky took a chance on.
Maybe the Rockies bug is wearing off on college ball as well.
The Wildcats survived a wild one against LSU, winning 43-37 in triple OT setting up a do or die situation for the Gators in the process.
The Cats host Florida next week, and you can rest assured that the Gators were watching this one, and taking notes.
Oregon State does it again
Last year, the Oregon State Beavers upset the USC Trojans, who obviously didn't take them as seriously as they wanted. That mistake cost the Trojans their all but guaranteed National Championship berth.
This year was no different.
In a mistake that cost the Cal Golden Bears, the Beavers capitalized on that mistake and possibly cost the Bears their chance at being ranked #1.
On the final play, a scramble did in the #2 team in the country, and all but sealed a victory for the Beavers as they went on to win 31-28 in Berkeley.
The Buckeyes roll the dice
No one was more excited about the LSU loss than Ohio State.
After easily dispatching of Kent State, the Buckeyes knew that they would need some much needed help to stay in the running for the BCS Championship.
After falling short last year against Florida, the Buckeyes have legitimately secured their spot atop the polls after a convincing win. And with Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Illinois all on tap before the Big Showdown against Michigan, the Buckeyes are sure to be tested throughout the remainder of the season, but only this time, they actually proved that they deserve to be #1.
They didn't lose a game they were supposed to win.
WE ARE...PENN STATE!!
The Valley was truly rocking today as the Penn State Nittany Lions made easy work of the Wisconsin Badgers, adding insult to injury after Illinois shocked them last week.
Luck has truly run out for the Badgers as they are now on the outside looking in as far as the Big Ten Throne goes.
For the Nittany Lions, however, they have a guarunteed spot back in the Top 25 with this much deserved victory.
Boomer Sooner!
Oklahoma recovered in royal fashion from the heartbreaking loss two weeks ago to Colorado.
The Sooners handed the Missouri Tigers their first loss of the season and kept in stride with their fellow one loss teams in hopes of securing a BCS Berth at the end of the season. But the Tigers have nothing to be upset about...unless they lose another game.
The Tigers are still in the running for the Big XII Championship, and they have Texas Tech coming up.
Oklahoma has a pretty easy schedule remaining with the likes of Iowa State and Baylor on the horizon. However, Texas Tech and Texas A&M are also remaining.
Silent...BUT DEADLY!
Kansas is undefeated going into next week, and they are constantly moving up in the polls. South Florida is quietly moving to the top of the Big East food chain.
Speaking of moving, Auburn has grabbed four quick wins, including one tonight against Arkansas, to stake their claim to the SEC Crown.
Speaking of silent, no one in Champaign, Illinois is talking much after watching Ron Zook's dream of getting even with the Gator Nation go up in smoke at the hands of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Condolences to the Gator Nation
Today marks a dark day in the world of sports. Last night, a walk on for the University of Florida was killed in a horrific motorcycle accident.
Luckily, Florida was on their bye week, and didn't have to play with their hearts on their sleeves.
Hopefully, they can turn tragedy into triumph, because with Kentucky in the driver's seat of the SEC East, the Gators need to win out the remainder of the division to clinch.
But that's next week.
Tonight, the Gators are in everyone's thoughts.
That's a quick rundown. See ya knuckleheads on Sunday.
