No Love For The Big Boys?
When it comes to the sports media, writers wouldn't know football if it beat 'em on the head daily.
According to the latest polls, writers think that teams from non-BCS conferences should be included in conversations with the big boys. this is as wrong as saying the Army is as good as the Marines, which is also crazy.
Iowa has played and beaten 3 BCS ranked teams(2 on the road) and pundits think that teams that play 1 BCS school and a weak conference and gaudy records should be considered for a shot at the national championship. This is loser thinking and has to stop. If Boise State and TCU, Cincinnati
i or the other weak conference teams tried to play a schedule like Florida, Texas, Alabama or Iowa; they would be lucky to be .500.
Lets stop giving credit to these non-BCS schools and talk about teams that are undefeated in weak conferences and start talking about the big boys. I would rather see 2 once beaten BCS majors play then 2 undefeated non-BCS teams. any four of the the teams I mentioned before would destroy a weaker conference team 9 times out of 10.
As an Iowa fan I get tired of hearing how u have to win pretty to be considered a great team. I have more respect for Oregon than Boise State. Oregon plays strong teams with great athletes weekly while Boise State and the rest plays stiffs every week(this include Cincinnati in a always weak Big East).
Let's start appreciating great defense and stop glorifying offensive teams that win 50-44. Iowa has a defense that can beat any team in the country and a average offense. a great defense beats a great offense 9 times out of 10.
in conclusion lets have 8 undefeated teams and put pressure on University presidents to start a playoff system so arguments that are all over the Internet would all be more of the "who will we get in first round" instead of "we could beat you if we played you in a bowl game"
Time for the NCAA to force a playoff system and not disturb the Bowls.
