Chicago Cubs utilityman Ben Zobrist hasn’t played since a May 7 victory over the Miami Marlins because of a personal leave of absence and is reportedly getting divorced.

ESPN.com cited court documents that revealed Zobrist and his wife, Julianna, are going through divorce proceedings. Julianna is listed as the plaintiff on the documents.

"No indication," manager Joe Maddon said when asked when Zobrist would return. "I texted with him the other day and reminded him how much I care about him, how much we miss him."

Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune noted the veteran also missed time during spring training to attend to a personal matter. The couple has been married since December 2005.

Zobrist signed with the Cubs prior to the 2016 campaign and was an All-Star and World Series MVP in his first season with the team. His RBI double in the top of the 10th inning in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series helped propel to the Cubs to their first championship since 1908.
