Report: Boxer Kubrat Pulev's Ban Extended; Fined for Kissing Jennifer Ravalo
Heavyweight boxer Kubrat Pulev has been ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and takeย sexual harassment prevention classes in order to lift his suspension after he kissed reporter Jennifer Ravalo without her consent during a post-fight interview March 23.
Per Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times,ย theย California State Athletic Commission imposed the largest fine it could issue Tuesday, and Pulev will be required to complete the training by the time of CSAC's next meeting onย July 22.
Commissioner Martha Shen-Urquidez, who oversaw the investigation, said:ย "I would like this to be a teachable moment rather than take away a fighterโs ability to make a living."
"It was a fair hearing, and we'll be at the next hearing," said Ravalo's lawyer andย women's rights attorney Gloria Allred.
Pulev, 38, grabbed and kissed Vegas Sports Daily reporter Ravalo while she interviewed him on camera following his knockout win overย Bogdan Dinu inย Costa Mesa, California:
He dismissed the kiss on social media afterwards and said the pair were friends:
However, Ravalo said in a news conference that she had only met him for the first time the day prior, when she conducted a pre-fight interview with him.
Ravalo also said that after kissing her, "he grabbed both of my buttocks and squeezed with both of his hands, then he walked away without saying anything to me and laughed."
"What he did to me was disgusting, I felt humiliated. No woman should be treated this way," she added.
Per Pugmire, CSAC also warned Pulev that he would be handed a lifetime suspension if he has any similar violations in the future.
