Cancer and Sports Pt. 28: Tricks not Treats For Phils and Jeff

Is is raining hard where we live and it is 4 minutes to game time, shades of last year.  I am trying to remember what Jeff looked like last year, with hair and about 10+ pounds heavier and not dealing with the side effects of chemo.  Things are definitely different this year  - and Cole Hamels...I hope you remember who you were last year...does MVP ring a bell?  Now we wait...Rain Delay!  First pitch due at 9:15.  Jeff feels sick and I am wondering if soggy CB Park works to our advantage.

One out fielded by Hamels!  Let the game begin!!!!   Inning one after a great steal by Jimmy and outs all around (UTterLY disappointed).  Great cheering, though.  Feels like a Flyer's game...Crosby Sucks changes to Yankees suck. 

0 - 0 and A Rod gets hit (not a hit) so makes first.  A Rod out at 2nd, man on first and am about to watch the game again!  Hamels is ON!  Jayson is WERTH a home run!  We draw first blood again!  Double for Pedro Feliz!  Hamels lays down a perfect bunt and we have bases loaded - one out....Go Jimmeeeee!  Walked in a run  - 2 zip - time for the Flyin' Hawaiian...bases loaded.  Shane went after two bad pitches. And we are up 3 Zip!  Jeff and the Phillies are BACK!  I went to watch Chase and Utley is up...and down ;-(  Maybe I should stay away from the TV - Yankees are up and have 2 outs - Jeter is up , strike two and the crowd is electric - love Harry's jacket and shoes in the dugout-  is he smiling right now and loving it?  Three out!  Did Harry send the rain to give us a little sign or is he crying rather than smiling?

It is the bottom of the 3rd and I will dare to peek again.  It is just so great to hear Jeff sounding strong...like he channeled the team into his body.  (Hope the Flyers will do the same for him when he has surgery during their season.)  Jeff wants more damage...get 'em Davidson! No Phillies love this inning!  We need some insurance!

Hamels walked Texiera...better than throwing him a great hit.  Yankees have their first hit - SteRod and Texiera on 2nd and 3rd!  Ball hit the camera could be a two run homer on replay.  3-2 Philly - we need our bats.  Going to watch and see if I can bring the Yankees some bad luck!  Man on 2nd 2 out and Jimmy is up...and down.  So is Jeff (how weird to watch him change with the team)...he is sipping tea and I am praying for a win! 

Top of the 5th.  Left the room and now it is 5 - 3  Damn Yankees.  Hamels is DONE!  I predicted 4 innings he stayed long enough to lose his shine!  Jeff is silent - where are our bats, now we must answer but Yankees are still up!  JA Happ is up...it is the beginning of the end.

We are going through the bull pen at mock speed and out bats are not here.  We are outmatched and there is not an excuse.  It is the bottom of the 9th and if we come back it is because Harry is smiling.  I really think the rain were his tears - he knew Hamels could not pitch.  Hamels spent the off season basking in his glory, not working on his swing...arrogance will get you every time.  Ruiz hit a home tun...too little too late? We better find our bats!

Yankees win game 3!  All Tricks, not treats!  Jeff is sitting in bed looking like crap.  Not a good night!  MLB wants people to help fight cancer - qwe want the Phillies to help Jeff fight cancer...little do they know what is going on in my home!
