Julian Draxler: PSG Have Players Who Can Stop Paul Pogba During UCL Tie

Gill ClarkFeb 11, 2019

Julian Draxler is confident Paris Saint-Germain have players who can shackle Manchester United's in-form midfielder Paul Pogba ahead of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie between the sides.

The two clubs meet on Tuesday at Old Trafford in the first leg, and Draxler is well aware of the threat posed by the World Cup winner, per FourFourTwo.

"They have got some great players at Man United, especially in midfield, with Pogba and [Nemanja] Matic. They will be key in the game.

"But we've got a lot of quality, too. Our players are more than capable. We stopped Paul sometimes in games between Germany and France.

"We'll see what he does. He can do everything, but we've got players capable of stopping Paul."

Pogba has flourished at Manchester United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager in December:

The midfielder is also developing a productive relationship with striker Marcus Rashford:

The Frenchman has spoken about how his situation has changed since the Norwegian took charge of the club, per the Guardian's Amy Lawrence.

"Before the coach arrived I was in the shadows, on the bench, and I accepted that," he said. "It is a pleasure to play again. Now I am always smiling."

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has also spoken about Pogba:

The former Juventus man has been one of United's most influential players in recent weeks, and the Red Devils will look to him for inspiration against PSG. Solskjaer's men go into the game on a strong run of form and are yet to lose in 11 games under the Norwegian.
