Fantasy Football Tip #5

One of the pains of running a fantasy league can be collecting the money from the owners (Disclaimer-Not talking gambling here, we are only collecting to pay for the league

). It can be a pain for both the person collecting the money and the people that have to pay. Let’s be honest, most people that are hanging on to the money over the course of the season may have to protect it from a significant other who may have access to the account it is stored. On the end of the payee, your banking on one person to hold on to this cash.  It appears that there may be an online solution that has Fantasy Football specifically in mind.

A while back I was introduced to League Safe by Corey at The Fantasy Football Goat.  This morning I decided to take it for a test drive with a new league starting up.  League Safe was started by Co-Founder of FanBall.com, Paul Charchian.

Here are some of the features:

• Pay Via Credit Card or e-Check
• All Owners can view the League Accounting, showing balances and transactions
• There is an Auto-Nag feature that when enabled will send owners a daily email until fees are paid
• Owners collect winnings at seasons end rather than waiting for payment to be sent
• Money is stored in an FDIC insured bank account

Downside observations:

• Payment deadline is set as October 1st, almost a month after the NFL Season Starts.  Of course the Commish has the ability to change owners if their own deadline is not met.
• There is free options but also a small fee for your transaction choices.  Don’t expect them to do this for free do we?
