Benson Arrested Again…Ugh

Sorry Benny…we just can’t go to bat for you anymore. Cedric Benson has been arrested yet again in Austin, Texas.  As you may have heard Cedric had a little trouble on Lake Travis not long ago.  Austin just doesn’t seem to be the place to be for Benson.

Authorities said Benson was arrested early Saturday in downtown Austin after he failed a field sobriety test. The former Texas star was charged with driving while intoxicated and was released on bond.

Benson refused the breath test…which will equal getting charged.  It’s one of those things that just make you look guilty or that you have something to hide if you refuse to do it.  I’m sure we will hear plenty of “The Austin Police are just picking on me…” and that may be the case.  He says there is history of that.  This comes down to the positions we put ourselves in.  I mentioned after the last fiasco that two places in Austin NOT to be to put yourself in those positions are Lake Travis and 6th Street (downtown).

It will be interesting to see what the Bears do with this, guilty of drinking and driving or not.  They are portraying themselves as being hard on behavior (see Tank Johnson) and they can’t keep looking the other way.  Hello Matt Forte.  Could this make a possible home for a one year contract for Kevin Jones, Shaun Alexander, or Lamont Jordan (I know…Travis Henry but that would be counter productive to the point)?
