NASCAR: Why Fans Shouldn't Boo Kyle Busch

Connor GriecoJun 7, 2008

Kyle Busch is not a villain.  Kyle also should not be the "most hated driver in NASCAR."  Fans should not boo when Kyle races.  Why?  Glad you asked.  Here are several solid reasons.

1. The Kyle Busch Foundation: before Kyle was legal age to drink, he started a foundation focused on helping orphan children.  In addition to racing in NASCAR's top three series, and his late-model team, he spends time with children in five race markets.

He helps to drive awareness for these homes and children and provides them with essentials (clothes, toiletries and a chance at life).  He's more caring than most fans give him credit for.  While most fans use their day off sitting on the couch, Kyle is making a difference far away from the track.

2. He just wants to win.  Think back to when you played Little League Baseball, town basketball, junior football or raced go-carts.  Did you race for second place or a top five finish?  If pushing his mom out of his way to win a race is a sin, then I don't want to watch NASCAR any longer, let alone sports.

You don't tell Michael Jordan to stop shooting once he's scored 60 points.  You don't tell Peyton Manning to take it easy on New England.  Why would Kyle take it easy on Dale Earnhardt Jr. or anyone else in front of him.  This is racing, people, not PGA Tour Golf

3.  He's only 23 years old.  Think back when you were 23 years old.  Then add 200+ media per week, an immensely packed schedule with little sleep or downtime, always in the spotlight and the other added pressures that come with being a professional athlete.

Let's also not forget that the first time he stepped into one of the NASCAR Series, before anyone knew who Kyle was, he was booed because of his older brothers' mishaps...he never stood a chance.

4.  He's going to leave this sport as one of the top drivers and champions of all time.  Anyone at the race track and industry knows this.  It's undeniable.  Racing is in his blood.  Let's sit back and enjoy watching a great one that hasn't even dipped his toes in his prime.

5.  Who doesn't love M&M's!?  If Red and the other characters like to hang out with him each week, how bad can he be?

So, give Kyle "Rowdy", "Wild Thing", "Checkers or Wreckers", Busch a second chance.  With each passing week, he gets better (scary right?), his fan base grows and by booing, you're only giving him another incentive to reach Victory Lane and take a bow.

Racing is exciting again, and it's due solely to Kyle.  Soon Jr. Nation's green, white and blue will change to Kyle's yellow, red and deliciously sweet milk chocolate brown brigade.  The Rowdy Brigade!  Has a nice ring to it.
