Who’s Your Heisman???

We are past the midpoint season of college football and one question looms in our heads. Who should in the Heisman trophy? Who would you vote for?

Tim Tebow has the Florida Gators off to a 7-0 start and hoping to have them repeat as National Champions. Tebow’s numbers are not as impressive as last year, but what is impressive is his toughness. Tebow was courageous enough to play against the LSU Tigers down in Baton Rouge at night, after suffering a horrific blow to the head against Kentucky. Tebow’s numbers were not huge in that game, but what was huge was his toughness to play. Tebow has the Gators chomping across SEC opponents and next on their list is the Georgia Bulldogs down in Jacksonville, Florida. If the Florida Gators remain undefeated and win the SEC Championship game does Tebow deserve the prestigious trophy once again?

Mark Ingram, the sophomore tailback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has been extremely impressive this season. His most impressive outing was against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Half-way through the game Ingram injured his knee and was taken out of game. He returned to the game and line up in the ‘Wild Cat’ formation and dominated the Gamecocks. He finished the game with an impressive 246 yards and one touchdown. He has already surpassed the 1,000 yard mark for the season, but what are most impressive are the yards after contact and his toughness he eludes in every carry. He has the Crimson Tide on slate to roll into the SEC Championship game against the Florida Gators. If Alabama can avenge their lost from last year to the Gators, should Ingram receive the Heisman trophy?

The Texas Longhorns have their 4 year starting quarterback in Colt McCoy. McCoy is projected to have a statistically better junior year than senior year, but that will not get McCoy down as he is hoping to add the BCS Championship to his impressive resume. The senior quarterback has the Longhorns in the driver’s seat to play in the BCS Championship game after defeating their longtime rivals the Oklahoma Sooners and blasting the Missouri Tigers this past week. McCoy only threw for 127 yards against the Sooners, but gave the Longhorns an important win. If Colt can keep the Longhorns perfect the remainder of the season and earn a trip to Pasadena for the BCS Championship, does he deserve the Heisman trophy?

Other Notable Candidates:

Dion Lewis (Freshman Running Back / Pittsburgh) – If you have not watched Dion Lewis, the freshman running back from Pittsburgh, sit down and watch him. The Panthers play host to the Notre Dame Irish on November 14.  He has already rushed for 1,029 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has the Panthers running towards a BCS bowl.

Case Keenum (Junior/ Quarterback/ Houston) – Case Keenum has had remarkable junior season. Case has thrown for over 2700 yards and 20 touchdown passes.  He led the Cougars to a win against Oklahoma St. earlier this season.  The Cougars only lost of the season came against UTEP where Keenum threw for 536 yards and 5 touchdowns

Jimmy Clausen (Junior / Quarterback / Notre Dame) – Jimmy Clausen has the Irish faithful smiling this season and possibly hoping for a BCS berth. Although, Notre Dame fell short against both rivals Michigan and USC, Clausen has delivered some amazing stats. Clausen has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. His most impressive outing came against the Washington Huskies where he threw for 422 yards.
