College Football Odds Week 5: Early Lines for OSU vs. Penn St. and More Revealed

Tyler ConwaySep 23, 2018

The two biggest games on college football's slate have three-point lines. Notre Dame is favored by that margin at home against Stanford.

Penn State, on the other hand, is not.

The Nittany Lions are currently listed as three-point underdogs against Ohio State next Saturday, per OddsShark

Those two matchups comprise four of the nation's Top 10 teams heading into the weekend. The fourth-ranked Buckeyes travel to State College for perhaps the biggest game of the Big Ten season, while the eighth-ranked Fighting Irish host a seventh-ranked Stanford team coming off a comeback win over Oregon.

Here's a look at the odds for Week 5's most notable matchups:

No. 4 Ohio State (-3) at No. 9 Penn State

No. 7 Stanford at No. 8 Notre Dame (-3)

No. 20 BYU at No. 11 Washington (-17)

No. 12 West Virginia (-6) at No. 25 Texas Tech

No. 14 Michigan (-9) at Northwestern

South Carolina (-1) at No. 17 Kentucky

No. 18 Texas (-8.5) at Kansas State

No. 19 Oregon (-2.5) at No. 24 California

Virginia Tech at No. 22 Duke (-3)

Florida at No. 23 Mississippi State (-8)

Overall, there are five different matchups featuring Top 25 teams. The biggest line goes to No. 11 Washington, which is a 17-point home favorite against No. 20 BYU. Washington is coming off a narrow victory over Arizona State, while BYU defeated McNeese 30-3 last week.

Oregon is going to look to rebound from its frustrating loss to Stanford when it visits Cal. The Ducks led 24-7 at the half and had possession with under a minute remaining when CJ Verdell fumbled to hand the ball back to Stanford for a game-tying field goal. The Cardinal won the game in overtime.

Perhaps the most interesting line of the week is South Carolina being favored by a point on the road against Kentucky. The Wildcats ascended to the No. 17 spot after a 28-7 trouncing of Mississippi State but do not appear to have any fans at sportsbooks.
