Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has once again addressed the rumours linking him with Barcelona, saying they're nothing more than speculation.
"I'm under contract.
"There have been little things with the coach - the relationship is always the same, coach and player. We have common goals, which are to win.
"As long as you do not see me in a Barcelona jersey, it's because I'm in Manchester. There will always be rumours."
As shared by Get French Football News, the quotes were somewhat misinterpreted by many outlets, including Telefoot's own Twitter account, and that led to some initial confusion:
Pogba has been dogged by questions regarding his future throughout the international break, and the Frenchman hasn't helped matters by sending out mixed signals. As noted by Sky Sports, the 25-year-old said he wasn't the one doing all the talking while addressing rumours he himself launched in an interview with Sky Germany.
While he's mostly been linked with Barcelona, there have also been suggestions of a return to Turin, with Calciomercato (h/t Football Italia) the latest:
Pogba has yet to live up to the enormous expectations since returning to Old Trafford, and following a title-winning run at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, his inconsistent form with United has been widely criticised.
The Red Devils have started the season in poor fashion, and as the team's most high-profile player and record signing, much of the blame has gone to the Frenchman.
According to ESPN FC's Rob Dawson, the Red Devils still believe Pogba's future lies at Old Trafford, but they have shelved contract talks for the foreseeable future.
Football writer James Robson noted the midfielder's comments often leave something to be desired for United:
The season has only just started, but it doesn't appear the speculation will go away anytime soon.
