College Football Week 9.

Jeff WOct 27, 2009

Here are the 2nd Set of BCS Standings (Top 7):

1. Florida- Tebow almost threw for more yards for the Bulldogs than Gators. Not impressive.
2. Alabama- Good thing Terrence Cody can block kicks. Should have lost to Tennessee.
3. Texas- Most impressive Top 10 team this week. Destroyed Mizzou.
4. Iowa- JUST got my Michigan State. Will be VERY surprised if they stay undefeated all season.
5. USC- Game against Oregon will be HUGE.
6. TCU- Dominated BYU. Not sure what to think of these guys.
7. Boise State- Their schedule will hurt them. Kellen Moore is a stud.

Here are a look at some of the top games this week:

#25 Ole Miss @ Auburn: Auburn has really gone down hill since their 5-0 start. The offense, which was a strength early in the season has had trouble with some of these SEC defenses including LSU last Saturday. Ole Miss started the season in the Top 10, but also have struggled since the start of conference play, but have confidence after a great win over Arkansas. Look for both offenses to put up some points in a close one.
My Prediction: Ole Miss 34 Auburn 24

Georgia vs. #1 Florida: This game has really lost a lot of its luster this year. Florida, even though still ranked #1, has looked VERY pedestrian the past few games. Tim Tebow threw 2 INT’s for touchdowns last week in a close win over Mississippi State. Georgia is coming off a bye week, after a 1-2 record in the 3 weeks prior. At times, the Georgia offense has struggled against aggressive defenses which they will face this weekend. Even though I want to pick Florida big, I will call it a close one.
My Pick: Florida 20 Georgia 17

#3 Texas @ #14 Oklahoma State: The black and orange Cowboys would love to pull a “trick” over Texas and come away with a “treat” of a win. Oklahoma State has one BIG advantage going into this game, they are playing at home. Stillwater is a tough place to play, especially if you are a Top 5 team. Disadvantage…the Cowboys are without WR Dez Bryant and RB Kendall Hunter, two main parts to their 3 headed offensive attack. Zac Robinson is still the QB, and would love to end his OSU career with a win over Texas. The Longhorns seemed to have broken out of their offensive “slump” last week against Mizzou. Is that a fair word? Slump? The move to put Jordan Shipley back in the slot is going to be HUGE for the rest of the season. Look for this one to be close early, with the Longhorns pulling away in the 2nd half.
My Pick: Texas 38 Oklahoma State 20

#5 USC @ #10 Oregon: There will be one place on Halloween night that will be louder and scarier than all others. Autzen Stadium. It has long been considered one of the toughest places to play in the entire country. Throw in the craziness of Halloween and the arrival of #5 USC, the fans at Autzen will be hysterical. Since their opening night loss to Boise State, Oregon has been on a tear. Their offense has exploded the past few weeks and is one of the top scoring teams in the nation. USC is still lead by true Freshman Matt Barkley, but that hasn’t caused too many problems so far. Barkley has come up big in road wins vs. Notre Dame and Ohio State. If he can overcome the craziness that is Autzen, look for the Trojans to keep it close. This will be the game of the weekend.
My Pick: Oregon 35 USC 32

Upset Pick of The Week: Illinois 27 Michigan 21- Illinois is a VERY bad team, but at least they get Michigan at home.

Game No One Cares About: Louisiana Lafayette 38 FIU 17- FIU is still one of the worst teams in the nation.
