Can We Stop Talking About The Giants Now?

Scott McWethyOct 26, 2009

I've been biting my tongue for some time now (okay...since Week 2), but now that the G-Men have dropped two in a row, I just couldn't hold it inside any longer.

Was I the only one that actually WATCHED the Cowboys-Giants game on Sunday Night Football, September 20th?  The Dallas football Cowboys absolutely DOMINATED that game!  The Boyz were running the ball with impunity--student body left, student body right, and up the middle in a cloud of dust.  They were gaining nearly 9 yards per attempt, for goodness sake!

Were it not for Tony Romo's forgettable effort, the Cowboys would have won by three touchdowns or so.  To wit:

1)  Romo's pick six.  'Nuff said.

2)  Romo's 'almost' pick six.  It turned into six, so what's the difference?

3)  The play in which Marion Barber sustained his quadriceps injury.  He was running away from the D, with the end zone an absolute, metaphysical certitude.  Only a fluky, debilitating tweak brought him down.

That said, I am a realist: an 'L' is an 'L', no matter how it is earned.  What keeps me up at night is that within 24 hours of that, er, 'win' by the New York football Giants, I heard almost every talking head mentioning that team in the same breath as the words, "best team in the NFC".

Please.

The Giants needed a miracle drive and field goal to beat a team that handed them the ball FOUR TIMES...and they're the best team in the NFC?  Well, if that's true, why don't we just hand the Lombardi Trophy to the Colts and get it over with?

Go Cowboys!
