As relayed by Football Italia, Milan are waiting on the result of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to see if they can compete in European football next season.

The Serie A side were banned from taking part in the UEFA Europa League after a breach of financial fair play rules, and Bonucci is said to be waiting on the outcome of the appeal before making a decision.

Milan's signing of Bonucci last summer came as a major shock, with the defender rated as one of the best centre-backs in the world at the time.

As noted by journalist David Amoyal, in the past, Bonucci has opted to remain in Italy when other offers may have been on the table:

Still, despite the arrival of the Italian and a number of other big names, Milan had a season of major ups and downs.

After parting ways with manager Vincenzo Montella and appointing Gennaro Gattuso, they were eventually able to finish in sixth place in the Serie A table. However, it remains in doubt whether they will take up their European place.

Bonucci's own form was inconsistent throughout the season, as he initially struggled in a team full of unfamiliar faces. His form did improve as the season went on, as the centre-back started to more closely resemble the force he was at Juventus.

Milan will be hopeful he's still around to provide that influence next term.

Per OptaPaolo, Bonucci has so much experience in Serie A matches and with the national team:

The chance to move to PSG and potentially work with former Juve team-mate Gianluigi Buffon would be an exciting one for Bonucci, especially given PSG are equipped to challenge for the UEFA Champions League next season—a trophy the defender has not yet won.

Italian football journalist Matthew Santangelo can find a number of reasons why the 31-year-old would want the move:

PSG have Thiago Silva and Marquinhos as their centre-back duo, with 22-year-old Presnel Kimpembe typically third choice. If Bonucci was going to come in, he'd provide even more depth to this stacked area of the squad.

Still, he'd surely go straight into the PSG team if he was to arrive. The leadership, technical ability and defensive aggression he has shown down the years would make him a fine signing.
