Meanwhile for Manchester United, they will be looking to build off of what has so far been a great year for the current Premier League leaders.
Despite not having Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez this year, United's attack has been just as good thanks to great work by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.
Here is a preview of this important match between these two English giants, and what each side must do in order to succeed at Anfield on Oct. 25.
Liverpool
After losing their last match 1-0 at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland due to a beach ball that was on the pitch caused a shot by Sunderland's Darren Bent to ricochet past Pepe Reina to give Sunderland the win, Liverpool found themselves in eighth in the table and already suffered four losses, twice as much as they had all of the 2008-2009 Premier League season.
It has gotten even worse for LFC after they lost late to Lyon 2-1 at Anfield on Oct. 20, which now is their fourth straight loss in all competition, and has more people calling for Rafa Benitez to be sacked.
Despite all of this commotion, Liverpool still need to take on their rival Manchester United at Anfield on Oct. 25, and the first key for their success is to forget all of what has happened, and just play a strong game of football.
Liverpool are also going to need to find an effective way to attack the Man United goal, as they will likely be with Steven Gerrard in this match, but they will benefit in having both Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson back in time for this match.
And finally, Liverpool must play their hearts out here, as a loss here could mean the end of their season in terms of contending for a Champions League spot, and it could cost Rafa Benitez his job.
But if Liverpool could do all of this, they will have a great chance of reviving their season by beating Manchester United.
Manchester United
The current leaders in the Barclays Premier League, Manchester United will head into Anfield looking to get revenge after losing twice to Liverpool last season, including a heartbreaking 2-1 loss at Anfield on Sept. 13, 2008.
But despite losing to the Reds twice last season, along with nearly giving Liverpool the league title, Man United came back and won their third consecutive Premier League title, and their 11th overall since Liverpool last won their last top division domestic league title in 1990.
But despite all of this, Manchester United will have to go out to Anfield looking to get their win, and a major key for them here will to be ready for a Liverpool team will play with their season on the line.
Man United will also be without the services of star striker Wayne Rooney, who will miss this match due to a calf injury, which means Man United will have to find offense from players who haven't contributed much lately.
And finally, Manchester United must continue their great recent form and have to prevent Liverpool from gaining any momentum, as that could be the deciding factor in this match.
Finally, if Manchester United could do all of this, they will have a great chance of succeeding at Anfield and return to Old Trafford with three points against their rivals.
With all of this in mind, expect a great match at Anfield on Oct. 25, as these two English giants will each be fighting for something important in what will be the most important match for each side so far this season.
