4-Star RB Devyn Ford Commits to Penn State over Virginia Tech
May 18, 2018
Prized recruit Devyn Ford will be the next running back looking to become a star at Penn State when he arrives on campus in 2019.
Per ESPN's Tom VanHaaren, Ford committed to the Nittany Lions over Virginia Tech on Friday.
A highly-regarded prospect at North Stafford High School in Virginia, Ford is a 4-star prospect who is the third-ranked running back and 65th-ranked player overall in the 2019 class, per 247Sports.
Penn State head coach James Franklin and his coaching staff have had tremendous success recruiting running backs in recent years. Saquon Barkley developed into the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL draft in three years with the Nittany Lions.
VanHaaren noted Ford is Penn State's third top-10 ranked running back commit in four years, after Miles Sanders and Ricky Slade.
The Nittany Lions are competing against Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin for Big Ten supremacy. They need to make big splashes to keep their streak of back-to-back 11-win seasons alive, and Ford's commitment is a huge victory for the program.
