Houston Baseball Commit Out of Hospital After Being Shot in Texas HS Shooting
Rome Shubert, a pitcher at Santa Fe High School in Texas who has committed to play for the University of Houston, has been released from the hospital after being shot in the head during Friday's shooting attack at the school.
Per Mark Berman of Fox 26, Shubert said in a text that he "was running" out of the back door when he "realized I was shot in the back of the head."
Texas governor Greg Abbott said 10 people were killed and 10 others were injured when Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a student at the school, opened fire on Friday morning, per Jason Hanna, Dakin Andone and Keith Allen of CNN.com.
Pagourtzis was one of two people detained and jailed by police.
Shubert, currently in his sophomore year, announced in January his intention to play baseball for the Cougars.
