Appearing on the Today show alongside her sister, Brie, Nikki Bella said Wednesday that she is still hopeful for a future with John Cena.

As seen in the following video, courtesy of the Twitter account for Today show presenters Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, Nikki stressed the importance of working on herself before making a long-term decision regarding her relationship with Cena:

While Bella said Cena is an "amazing man" and called him her "best friend," she said she doesn't want to be hesitant or regretful before marrying him.

Bella and Cena were scheduled to get married on May 5, but they ended their six-year relationship last month.

Cena professed his love for Nikki on Tuesday's episode of the Today show and stressed that he wants to marry her and be the father of her children:

Marriage and children were a hot-button issue throughout Cena and Bella's relationship, as evidenced by their interactions on the Total Divas and Total Bellas reality shows.

Cena initially told Bella that he never wanted to get married again or have children, but his stance softened, and he ultimately proposed to her at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida, last year.

Viewers will see what led up to the split between Cena and Bella on the upcoming season of Total Bellas, which premiers Sunday on the E! Network.
